Originating from the Black Sea peninsula, the Black Crimean tomato is a fleshy pile tomato with medium-sized fruits that ripen to a deep red to sometimes black color. The tomatoes reach an average weight of 250 g, are very tasty and sweet and have a soft flesh. They are therefore particularly suitable for making sauces and juices, but they are also a delight to the eye in salads because of their unusual color. The plants grow up to 150 cm high and their shoots should be regularly pinched off. The harvesting phase begins in early June and can last into October.
