Easy to grow, perennial herbaceous plant. The variety produces narrow leaves with very fine aroma and mild onion flavor. The leaves are used fresh in salads, herring, egg dishes, new potatoes etc. They can also be frozen for winter use. Don't let the plant flower, it only takes away from other growth. Sowing in October can lead to earlier germination in the spring. Thrives on rich calcareous soil, preferably clay, but undemanding.
