The flowers are small and bright red. Leaves and shoots are used as spinach and are very rich in vitamins and calories. Thrives in a sunny position in a warm, sheltered spot in nutrient-rich soil. The seeds are soaked in water one day before sowing. Keep the soil moist after sowing until germination has started.
