Leaf batavia is an intermediate between lettuce and head lettuce. The leaves form dense rosettes of crisp, rippled green leaves. This variety takes on a red tone on the edges. Repeated sowing provides a supply of fresh leaves/leaf rosettes throughout the summer. Thinning harvest before the plants start to crowd and then harvest whole plants as you go along. Thrives in a loamy, moisture retentive and well-drained soil. Water regularly.
