Beautiful plant that can be grown both in the herb garden and in the flower bed. Has beautiful, bicolored flowers in deep red shades. The pods are edged with wings. Both flowers and young pods (3-5 cm) can be eaten. The pods are lightly steamed or sautéed in butter and eaten whole. The plant is nitrogen-fixing and thus enriches the soil for the benefit of other plants. Thrives in a sunny position in good, well-drained and moist soil. The plant requires no support. Does not tolerate standing water. The seeds may be soaked in water before sowing. Keep the soil moist after sowing until germination has started.
