The Purple Cherokee tomato is a very old variety grown by the Cherokee Indians. The flat round beefsteak tomatoes ripen to a brown-red to violet color, have a thin skin and are very flavorful with a slight sweetness. They can reach a weight of over 300g and more. The plants grow up to 180 cm high and the shoots should be regularly pinched off. Because of their thin skin, you should make sure you don't water them too much, otherwise the fruits may crack.
