Darters are annual, 30 cm high papery flowers of the grass family. Grows well in sunny, loose, fertile soil. Cut when the inflorescences are already fully formed, but the seeds are not yet ripe. Grown for planting in beds, sown in flowering meadows, often used in naturalistic flower gardens, suitable for dry bouquets. Dried inflorescences remain decorative for a long time.
