Decorative leafy plant that thrives in sun to partial shade. The plant is perennial but can only overwinter in a frost-free location. Suitable for a flower bed, pot or potted plant. Use often to create a beautiful play of color with other plants. The seeds are small and should be mixed with sand before being sown very thinly. The seeds are easily pressed into the soil. Must not be covered with soil. Thrives in porous, well-fertilized soil. Requires frequent watering but cannot tolerate stagnant water. Can be cut to the desired size. After sowing, the soil is kept moist until germination has started properly.
