An easy-to-grow garden plant that develops brilliant orange-red 'lanterns' in late summer. Has a slightly sprawling habit but fits nicely in the background of the border. Spreads by means of a creeping rhizome. Harvest for drying when the 'lanterns' turn orange. Very undemanding but produces the most 'lanterns' when grown in sunny conditions in calcareous soil.
