Produces large, blue-violet and fragrant flower clusters. The seeds have to be pre-cultivated and germinate rather slowly. It can be difficult to get all the seeds to germinate, but the beautiful flowers are certainly worth the effort. The seeds are only lightly covered with soil. Keep the soil moist after sowing until germination has started. Thrives in well-fertilized and mulchy soil. Can overwinter brightly at about 5 degrees of heat.
