Provides a large harvest of smooth, green leaves with an aromatic scent. Used fresh in tomato sauce, salads, etc. The leaves can be frozen, but lose aroma. Harvest the top and use the leaves. Basil is a heat-loving plant, suitable for growing in pots in a sunny, sheltered spot. Can also be sown indoors year round, but will need extra lighting during winter. Thrives in fertile, well-drained soil. Fertilize regularly.
