Seagulls are one of the most easy-to-maintain hedges, greening first and being hardy at the same time. The leaves have a fresh light green color that darkens during the summer and can turn a nice fall color. Blooms with yellow flowers in May and can set non-toxic tasteless berries. If the plant is cut regularly, there will be a few flowers and berries. It has no soil requirements and can handle both sun and shade. Cut 2 times/year and can withstand hard pruning. The season for bare root hedges is from March to about midsummer and October to December. Bare-root hedge plants should not be planted during the summer when the weather is too hot and sunny and they will not be able to establish themselves. If you want to plant during the summer, choose a potted hedge instead. Note that the pictures are of fully grown specimens.
