Iceberg lettuce great lakes is a safe-to-grow variety that gives an early harvest. Repeat sowing at 2 week intervals for a steady supply of fresh lettuce. Sowing: Early, as soon as the soil is workable - July, or indoors 3-4 weeks before planting. Lettuce seeds do not germinate at temp. above 20°C, keep moist throughout the germination period. Thrives in loose loamy soil, but will tolerate clay. Produces heads about 2.5 months after sowing.
